BALANCE CENTER PHYSICAL THERAPY
VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION
No matter your condition or therapeutic needs, improving your balance means greater safety and independence. Our goal is to determine all factors contributing to your imbalance and implement unique, specialized treatment that will allow you to safely enjoy the freedom you deserve.
The vestibular system, along with vision and sensation, provide the brain information about motion and your body’s position in space. When any of these are impaired, your body experiences this mismatch of information as a sense of imbalance. The vestibular system includes the parts of the inner ear and brain that help control balance and eye movements. If the system is damaged by disease, aging, or injury, vestibular disorders can result, and are often associated with vertigo and dizziness. Our top-notch Vestibular Rehabilitation program is an individualized approach that addresses the root cause of vestibular deficits.
Vestibular system dysfunction can be debilitating and may come on randomly at any age, keeping you from things like work, school, or driving. You may also be at a high risk for falls during and after an episode of vertigo. In Vestibular Rehabilitation, physical and occupational therapists apply specific techniques to evaluate and treat vertigo and balance disorders all with the goal of giving you your life back. While we have the most experience with elderly patients, we are committed to treating patients of all ages with complex physical therapy needs.
